Building a business is for most of us something that will take a lot of time and effort. How do we manage the balance of everyday work and life while preparing for our great opportunity? After 25 years in the tech sector I would like to share a few reflections on what I have learned that might help you on your journey.

Most startup founders think board meetings are something to be avoided like the plague. I will try to show them why they are wrong and why boards and board meetings (when done right) can be hugely useful for founders.

Being nearly ten years in real estate and investment management I don’t believe in success. For me, life is driven by strict discipline, continuous learning and hard work. We are living in the era of the constant change. One technology is substituting another within one year. Market research leaders like Gartner, Mckinsey, Deloitte or PwC every year announces new technology trends. 4 years ago we all were taken by the 3D printing technologies, 3 years ago we have started to talk about immersive technologies, 2 years ago blockchain and cryptocurrency came into the spotlight, right now we are all hyped by the big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence’s solutions. Some technology innovations have never reached the end-users and have not been adapted by the mass market as it was predicted, some of them will be adapted later, but the majority of them will remain just a buzzword of a year and completely vanish from the market almost immediately. So, if you are a startup hunting for the next big thing, I will share you tips and tricks on how to find the perfect match, not to burn all your energy, time and money on the non-perspective technological trends and flow smoothly in the rhythm of innovation through your business adventure!

Homes are, similar to phones and cars, emerging into IoT devices, just bigger and more expensive. But in contrast to phones and cars, it is very difficult to standardize technology for homes, as every single one of them is unique in size, shape, furniture, devices, and inhabitants. There are hundreds of devices that supposedly can turn your home into a smart home. But as homes, in comparison to phones, don't have their own nervous system, it's not possible to make them truly smart, yet!
